The Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo (UHSD) dives into the mystery of Scooby-Doo media! Getting clues through interviews with the people working behind the scenes of Scooby-Doo.

But what does that mean, exactly? The Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo is a podcast dedicated to spotlighting the stories of the people that worked on bringing Scooby-Doo to life. Whether it's the author of a Scooby themed children's book, a writer/director of a movie or TV show, the composer of a video game soundtrack, or a voice or live-action actor, the Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo aims to talk to everyone, from all aspects of the Scooby-Doo franchise.

Each interview is a deep-dive into not only the making of a Scooby-Doo project, but also into what someone's role entails. So, whether you're interested in Scooby himself, or have a deep interest in the entertainment industry - there's something for everyone in an episode of the Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo.

The podcast began as a passion project during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, although the seed of the idea rooted itself in the fall of 2019.

Having just completed university, I was working and looking for a project to work on in my downtime. I've always loved Scooby-Doo, and the behind-the-scenes stories always piqued my interest.

Sometimes, I'd put in a DVD just to watch the special features, and my favourite part of owning the Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase (2001) VHS tape was letting it run past the credits to watch the extra features, including a "the making of" mini documentary.

So, what better use of my journalism degree than interviewing people who have worked on the franchise?!

Who hosts the Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo?

Alexa Lawlor is the host of the Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 2019, and has worked in media, TV commercials, and communications.

Alexa is a lifelong Scooby-Doo fan, and a collector of Scooby-Doo memorabilia (it takes up her whole living room)!

You can read more about Alexa's collection on the CBC Collectors Series or check out the video below!

The CBC came to visit my collection in February 2026! I've definitely added quite a few items since!

Who have you interviewed so far?

That's a big question for a podcast with over 40 episodes! Some past guests include: Joe Sichta (Scooby-Doo and the Loch Ness Monster), Lily Meade (Scooby-Doo A Rogue Thorn - YA novel), Corwin Emery (Spooky Pinball), Stephen Geering (Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase - the video game), and more.

How often does the Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo release episodes?

This is, unfortunately, rather sporadic. The goal is to give listeners a high-quality, in-depth episode, which takes time! Also, balancing the podcast while working full-time, trying to have a social life, and taking time for self care is... definitely a balancing act. So while I can't commit a specific time frame, I CAN guarantee that episodes will be worth the wait.

Besides, if you just found me, you have a HUGE backlog of episodes to listen through first!

I'm sold! Where do I listen?

Great question! You can listen to the Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo on all of your favourite streaming platforms, on Podbean, or right here on unmaskedsdpodcast.com!
